Intimidad Animal
Human beings are a complex set of layers that selectively present themselves to the various audiences they interacts with throughout their daily life.
When we let go of the expectations of what we are supposed to be and we really live our deepest, darkest desires, then we truly get to know ourselves. “Find out what you like, and I’ll tell you who you are” can be an accurate variation of an old popular Dominican phrase.
In Intimidad Animal, artists Luis Hidalgo and Jonathan Báez comment on the darker, more intimate side of each of us, our hidden pleasures, our excesses, and secrets we keep carefully guarded secrets from everyone’s view, but that undoubtedly define us. Through the use of drawings, paintings, and prints, the artists provoke some inner and private laughs as we identify in some of the works, our own “guilty pleasures”.
