About 71% of the earth’s surface is beyond our reach, covered by water, and only a few adventurers manage to conquer those landscapes. The choice of water as the main subject of this exhibit points towards a pressing need for environmental awareness. Using photography as an artistic language, these photographers manage to take us to these liquid landscapes captured throughout various locations of the Dominican Republic. The deliberate choice of artists of such various historical moments seeks to enrich the exhibit using photography as a historical document that shows us how landscapes have changed over time as it also leaves evidence of our relationship with our surroundings.
Paisajes líquidos explores the role of photography as an artistic language and as a historical document while it aims to raise awareness towards environmental issues like water preservation. This exhibition presents photographs dated from 1916 through 2016.
